A "bouclier" (shield) is a 48cm (diametre) convex shaped item of baked clay. The clay is baked at 1020°c, enamelled on one side, and baked once more at 1000°c which create what is knnown as ceramic.

The "bouclier" is hand-painted with paints that are baked at 960°c, others at 750°c to enhance colors and at 150°c for finishing touches.

The "bouclier" is to be handled with care it can be cleaned with a dry cloth or a slightly damp sponge.
